This week a group of 12 students from St Michael's College, one of the school's on Millwall Community Trust's school provision programme, joined with a group of students from Charlton Athletic Community Trust to attend a three day residential at Hindleap Warren Outdoor Centre in East Grinstead. The Social Mixing project, which is designed to bring together young people from across a range of London boroughs, helps to develop communication, teamwork, and social skills, encouraging cohesion between groups of young people who would not ordinarily mix. During their time at the center, the young people undertook a range of activities including climbing, canoeing, and fire building, as well as receiving a talk from Barry Mizen from the Jimmy Mizen Foundation, set up after Jimmy, Barry's son, was killed as a result of gang violence. Sean Daly, Football Development Manager, said: "The Social Mixing project is a great opportunity for young people from different boroughs to come together when they might not always have the opportunity to do so. "The range of activities on the project allows young people to have opportunities and experiences they would not otherwise. "We are also delighted to be continuing our partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust, and look forward to working together on future projects!"
