Millwall Community Trust - Millwall F.C Partner with SRTRC for two school workshops this week!
On Tuesday February 9th, Show Racism the Red Card partnered with Millwall F.C and the Community Trust to deliver the first of our two educational workshops this week, to a school in Lewisham.
The first session was delivered online to 82 pupils from Year 5. They began the afternoon by watching our flagship educational film featuring some of football’s biggest stars discussing their experiences with racism. After the film the pupils took part in a workshop that included our ‘culture shock’ activity, designed to break down stereotypes and misconceptions; they also learnt what to do if they were witness or experience racism.
On the Wednesday a further workshop was delivered to 70 pupils from Year 6!
Millwall FC chief executive, Steve Kavanagh said:
“As a club we are determined to continue to be at the forefront of football’s efforts to rid the sport of discrimination and a key part of this drive is to enhance what are already strong relations with the excellent team at Show Racism the Red Card. The work they do is absolutely crucial and fundamental to what is a key and shared objective for the industry – to remove this abhorrent element from the game we all love.”
Show Racism the Red Card’s Paul Hill added:
“We are really excited to be working with Millwall Football Club over two days delivering our virtual “Fans of the Future” anti-racism workshop to 150 pupils across years 5 and 6 at Stillness Primary School."
Mason Bennett was brilliant in our Q&A and had some wise words for everyone.
"It is imperative we keep working together to safely challenge racism and Millwall football club are at the forefront with us educating our fans of future."
