Millwall Community Trust and Millwall Lionesses can confirm the departures of joint managers Alex Russell and Adam Rowland.

Alex and Adam proudly led the club with commitment, dedication and hard work throughout their time in the job, with last season’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup run a particular highlight of their tenure.

The Trust and The Lionesses wish to thank them for their sterling service and wish them the very best with their future endeavours.

Moving forward, MCT is delighted to confirm Ted Jones as the new Manager of Millwall Lionesses.

Ted has excelled as Millwall Lionesses’ Under 18s Manager and, having worked in Academy football, he has experience in developing players and creating an excellent pathway between the Academy and First-Team.

Ted’s coaching team will be confirmed in due course.

There is also a new board, which will work across both club and Trust to ensure Millwall Lionesses continues to progress, with Jason Vincent being announced as General Manager.

“Going forward, the structure will see us developing the pathway from the Academy to the First-Team,” said Vincent.

“Working in this joined up and collaborative manner between coaches and management will help the development across all our women and girls’ teams.”

Fairbrother added: “It is great to welcome Ted on board to this new role. His appointment will allow the team and the Academy to closely align to support player pathway development and build on the strong work of The Lionesses’ since their rebirth.

“It is disappointing for the club to lose Alex and Adam, and we thank them for all their hard work and dedication over their time with The Lionesses. The great performance of the team in last year’s FA Cup being a real high point and one that all involved are rightly proud of.

“With Jason’s involvement going forward as well, this will allow us to continue to develop The Lionesses and allow a clear link into the Community Trust in the short-term, as well as allow us to develop longer-term plans and goals for both the First-Team Lionesses as well as the Academy and pathways programmes.”

New Manager Jones said: “I’m really grateful for this opportunity to lead this team and I can’t wait to get started. The priority is to get on the training pitch and work hard with the players to give them a clear vision of how we want to play.

“Results haven’t been what we would have wanted and we’re all feeling frustrated. However, we’ve got a fantastic squad who are hungry to improve and I’m looking forward to working with them.

“We’ve got a couple of weeks to work with the squad and get across some ideas to them and prepare for Ebbsfleet in the FA Cup.”
