In a brand new series, Millwall Community Trust will be finding out a bit more about our Trustees.

Next up is Nerisa Ahmed...

Could you please introduce yourself and a little bit about your history?

I am a mash-up of cultures being born into an Indian Muslim family who immigrated to the US and have lived in many cities internationally in India, China and the UK. I played girl’s football, from the moment I could walk, and continued playing through to university. I believe football can be a force for good that can unify and bring together communities and, through my children’s eyes, I see how footballers and their clubs are larger than life heroes that can champion change for the better.

I began my career in banking in London and transitioned into working in law and qualified as a solicitor in 2016. I am a senior solicitor at BNP Paribas bank with over 16 years legal experience in financial services. Throughout my career, I have been committed to charitable work and have provided pro-bono legal advice, volunteered with local food banks and have worked as a trustee on the board of Craft Central (an arts charity in the Docklands). I am now working with the MCT as a trustee and look forward to contributing my legal knowledge, professional experience and passion for football and diversity to the charity.

How long have you been a trustee with Millwall Community Trust?

I joined as a legal advisor to the board in October 2023 and was appointed to the board of the MCT as a trustee this year.

Why did you become a trustee at Millwall Community Trust?

Having lived near the club, I am aware of the incredibly positive impact the MCT has in the South London area in providing opportunities for youth and community development through engagement with sport.

I wanted to work with the MCT to contribute to its commendable work in the neighbourhood and to ensure its continued success and growth.
