On Saturday 19th December, in aid of the Millwall FC  " We Do Care" Supporting hospital heroes initiative , members from the Millwall Community Trust joined those from the Millwall Supporters’ Club (MSC) and the Millwall Lionesses to take part in the MCT’s Santa Dash 2020, which saw the participants making the journey from The Den to University Lewisham Hospital to donate gifts and items to staff and patients.  Although the event was different to last year due to the Coronavirus outbreak, it was a great event nevertheless and saw the runners run the route in full blue Millwall Santa outfits with beards.

Community Trust CEO, Sean Daly said of the event, “The Santa Dash was a really successful event for both us and the community last year, so to have to cancel due to the Covid-19 outbreak was very disappointing.  However, we still managed to hold a socially distanced event where we could show our thanks to those who have worked so hard during the pandemic, and also provide essential supplies to hospital staff at University Lewisham Hospital.  Our club has always been at the forefront when it comes to helping the community and this event is just another amazing example of how much hard work and determination from Millwall goes into the local area.”

MSC Committee member, and Millwall Lionesses Assistant Manager, Alex Russell was just one of the many who took on the challenge, “when I was asked to take part, I was a bit daunted at first having to run such a distance in fancy dress, but once we got going and we were getting support from the public, I was having a great time.  It was a tough run, but the group I ran with were great fun and to be able to help the club out in this way was something I just couldn’t turn down.  Seeing the hospital workers when we arrived at Lewisham and being able to donate much needed items is something that I am proud to be a part of and will stay with me for a long time.”
