Millwall Lionesses beat Sutton United 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Chipstead FC.

The win against The U’s is the first victory of the season for The Lionesses.

Centre-back Sophie Chapman scored two goals in the opening fifteen minutes to secure all three points for Ted Jones’ side.

Millwall started fast and were ahead after three minutes, a Ciara Watling delivery was guided home by Chapman to open the scoring.

Twelve minutes later, the lead was doubled. Mia Lockett’s fizzing delivery was met by the head of Chapman who nodded home.

Millwall nearly added a third soon after as Lucy Jellett’s effort went just over the bar.

The hosts pulled one back just after the half hour mark as a set piece of their own found the back of the net.

Chapman nearly had a first-half hat-trick just before half time as her headed came crashing off the bar.

Evie Thorne Ford was called into action just before the hour mark, denying an effort at close range.

Millwall showed resilience and concentration to see out a first win of the season as they head to Newhaven next weekend.
