Millwall boss Gary Rowett completed the 2022 TCS London Marathon on Sunday, raising over £1,000 in the process.

The manager ran the 26.2mile course in an incredible time of four hours and four minutes this past weekend, crossing the line in aid of the charity, who are a big part of the community around The Den.

"The Lions Food Hub is a part of the community, even more so now with the rising cost of living," co-founder Kelly Webster stated. "We support around 50 families a week with essential items to help feed them. This hopefully means that they don't have to choose between eating and heating.

"Any money raised goes towards keeping us fully stocked to continue to support our service users week-to-week, which consists of tinned food, toiletries, fresh and frozen items. The more money that is raised means the more we can help multiple families through these tough times."

For Kelly and all at the Food Hub, having Rowett run the course for them was both a mind-blowing and selfless gesture.

"When we found out that Gary was running the London Marathon for us, we were absolutely blown away by his support. We all went along to watch and we thought he did amazing and completed the course in a fantastic time. Millwall Football Club goes above and beyond to help the community as it is a massive part of what we do, and Gary running the Marathon, for us, is another example of its commitment to help.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported us - we really are truly grateful to anyone that helps us keep helping more and more families. If you would like to donate to us, we have a matchday donation hub by the SE16 bar, where we accept any food or money donations.

"We also have an online site - called Bankuet - which anyone can donate to. This allows us to order food."
