As we approach 2023, CEO Sean Daly reflects on the amazing progress made by the Millwall Community Trust (MCT) in 2022.
“I took on the role of MCT CEO in 2019 and at that time the organisation faced a very uncertain future. Since that time, we have seen sustained progress year on year and 2022 has seen us achieve financial stability and one of the highest performance scores of the 92 football community trusts in this country from the EFL.
I am very fortunate to have such a committed and hard-working group of staff.
The main highlights of this year were: -
- Growth of EDI programmes, Millwall Romans/Pride, Girls only programmes, Fans United ETC
- Billy Mitchell – Crowned community player of the year for the championship 2021/22
- Millwall FC , Trust staff and MFC supporters travel to Kenya to help build a school
- 9000 free places and meals provided on Trust holiday camps.
I am particularly pleased that we were able to be part of the team which secured a planning consent for a new training ground for the club in West Kingsdown in Kent and to input into plans for the development of The Den to increase the capacity of the ground to 30,000 together with associated residential and other development. The future is certainly looking bright for both the club and trust”
