Millwall Community Trust have appointed Liam Josephs as their new Community Coach.
Liam went to Leeds Beckett University, where he studied a Bachelors in Sports Coaching.
He has also coached at Sunday league side Omari Youths which has helped him gain experience in the field.
Liam Josephs said: “I’m really excited, I worked really hard to get the job. It’s what I’ve been training for. I’m really happy that someone’s allowed me to become a better version of myself.
“Going forward its all about focusing on my development as a coach, what I can improve on but the most important thing is to maintain Millwall’s high standards.
“It’s really enjoyable, the staff are friendly, it makes it a highly enjoyable environment to work in. There’s no time to relax but there’s the right focus and determination to work in this type of environment.
“From the second year of uni, they asked us what path you want to go down, community, professional or schools. I chose professional because that’s my aim to work in a professional environment and I believe Millwall will help me to do that.”
Emily Poole, Primary Stars and Schools Coordinator added: “Liam first joined our coaching side through voluntary work in one of our schools where we quickly realised his potential.
“Soon after that we decided to put him in after school clubs where all the children and schools love the work he is doing.
“We’ve decided for him to run his own Joy of Moving Project from term two where we will continue to see the great work that Liam does.
“Liam is hardworking and a quick learner who has a bright future ahead of him. We appreciate all that Liam has done for the MCT so far.”
Traineeship Officer, Ophelie Zahui concluded: “From the first day Liam joined he has been a pleasure to work with. Always on time, polite and respectful and always going beyond to make sure he finishes his work even if it is at 12am.
“Liam already had his level 1 coaching prior to joining second chance academy and wanted to get more involved in coaching so I wanted to make sure I didn't fail him or let him down and helped him get coaching jobs here at Millwall and even shadow coaching our post 16.
“Overall, I loved having Liam as a trainee and glad that he got he got a positive outcome from the program and i have enjoyed watching him develop over the short period of time he was on the programme.”
