The Millwall Community Trust is starting its own female football academy, which will be officially launched in September.  As part of the new programme there will be teams at, U12, U14 and U16 level, with a clear pathway to first team football with the Millwall Lionesses senior team. “We feel this is a very positive step forward for Millwall Community Trust and for girls football in the local boroughs,” Sean Daly, chief executive, said. “It is an exciting challenge and one which I know will be fully embraced by all those involved in the new set-up. We are confident that the fresh approach will provide better opportunities for local girls to play more competitive and varied fixtures and tournaments.” Trials are to be held on 11st and 12th July at St Paul’s Sports Ground, Salter Road, Rotherhithe, London SE16 5EF at the following times: U12s – 10am-11.30am U14s – 12pm-1.30pm U16s – 2pm-3.30pm   To register your place at the trials please email dpalmer@millwallcommunity.org.uk   The trials are subject to appropriate relaxation of existing lockdown measures and guidance relating to the COVID-19 outbreak.
