As part of our Free Summer Holiday, Activity and Food Programmes (HAF) Millwall Community (MCT) is delivering Pot Gang.

Pot Gang provides grow-your-own fruit, vegetable, and herb boxes to make it possible to grow food from home.

Millwall Community Trust know the importance of showing children the significance of nature and sustainability, this is why this has been embedded on our Holiday, Activity and Food Programmes this Summer.

Millwall Community Trust’s Football and Sports Development Officer Patricio Fenick-Sanchez delivered the growing Vegetables and Herbs workshop to the children whilst explaining each stage of the process.

Each child received compost and bags of seeds - which were all different vegetables.

As well as the essentials needed to grow their vegetables, the children also received an activity sheet which included ‘dot-to-dot’ and ‘what do you see’ as well as stickers in the box.

The children were growing Chives, Rhubarb and Broccoli.

Each child went through the stages shown on the instruction sheet and will now see what they planted flourish as the days go on.

Patricio Fenick-Sanchez, Millwall Community Trust’s Football and Sports Development Officer said: “We are delighted to be able to deliver Pot Gang workshops and show the children how important nature is.

“This workshop means that children can grow herbs at home and learn more about growing their own plants and sustainability of nature around the community."
