Millwall’s Girls PL Kicks side finished third at the Godwin Lawson Tournament at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Ground on Thursday.

The Godwin Lawson Foundation (GLF) is a registered charity founded in 2012 by Yvonne and Calvin Lawson to commemorate the life of their son, Godwin Lawson. Godwin was stabbed in the street in Stamford Hill, trying to prevent two of his old school friends from being attacked by four young men. He was just 17 and was playing for Oxford United's Football Academy.

Millwall beat Tottenham Hotspur twice - winning the first game 2-1 followed by a 1-0 victory in the second match.

The young Lionesses lost to a very strong Arsenal - with the Gunners scoring their winner in the last seconds of the contest.

It was Millwall’s Girls PL Kicks first ever tournament and they gave a superb account of themselves throughout the day.

The Metropolitan Police were also in attendance and they delivered workshops around the work they do to keep the public and young people safe.

Joubin Sarrami, Millwall Community Trust’s Community Manager said: “What a fantastic experience for our young Lionesses on Thursday.

“Each and every one of them did themselves and Millwall proud and we can’t wait for more experiences such as this one going forward.

“A special thank you to Tottenham for hosting and to the Met Police for a fantastic workshop that taught the children so much, as well as Decathlon's health and well-being fund which has allowed us to grow our girls sessions over the past couple of months."
