Millwall Pride Manager Andy Dolan delivered a Premier League Primary Stars Rainbow Laces Campaign Assembly at Galleywall Primary School this morning.

Millwall have two LGBTQ+ teams, Millwall Romans and Millwall Pride and play in the London Unity League and were formed as the London Romans in 2006, playing in north London.

Shortly after they were incorporated by Millwall Community Trust and moved south of the river in 2020.

This year marks the tenth year anniversary of Rainbow Laces.

Since Rainbow Laces kicked off in 2013, over a million people have laced up in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport, fitness and physical activity.

Today, Andy Dolan spoke to the children at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark about his story and gave an introduction to what the Rainbow Laces campaign is all about.

Following the assembly, Andy Dolan said: “It was really good, the children were so engaged and they asked some really smart questions. You could tell they were really attentive.

"I said to everybody as I was leaving the difference that would’ve made for me when I was the same age would’ve been massive.

"It’s a really positive experience for the children in that room and it could make a really big difference."

Galleywall Primary School Headteacher, Mr Blain said: "It’s such a diverse community and it’s really important that these messages of inclusion and non discrimination are included in everything we do."

Jason Vincent, Millwall Community Trust’s Safeguarding and EDI Lead said: "It’s really pleasing to see that the MCT are engaging with our local schools and are sharing positive messages around anti-discrimination."
