Millwall FC First-Team player Danny McNamara visited Millwall Community Trust’s (MCT) Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) Camps at The Lions Centre on Tuesday afternoon.

McNamara has scored two goals in 75 appearances for The Lions since signing his first professional deal at Millwall in 2017.

The two goals that  McNamara has scored for the club came in a 4-1 win against Barnsley on ‘Community Day’.

The 25-year-old came through the Community Trust set-up, starting by attending the Player Development centre and holiday camps during the school holidays.

Following on from this the defender made the step-up into the academy system after impressing in his Community Trust programmes.

Speaking about Community Trust’s and why they are vital, Danny McNamara said: “Since I was young, I was always part of the Community Trust’s programmes. On my school holidays I attended the holiday camps  coming in playing football every day and meeting new people and doing what I love, having a smile on my face, no pressure and just going and scoring goals and having fun.

“There’s nothing better, playing football everyday you’re only going to get better but just enjoying football, making you actually want to go out and play football and meet new people and make new friends makes you the player you are today.

“Going into the real world, as you grow up and you’re playing for livelihoods you cherish those moments when you were younger and it’s something to look back on, it definitely helped.”
