Millwall Lionesses were 1-0 victors against Newhaven on Sunday afternoon.
In Manager Ted Jones’ absence, Assistant Manager Jack Wisson took the game as The Lionesses ensured back-to-back victories after last week’s 2-1 win against Sutton United.
Millwall Lionesses started the game the better and Lucy Jellett’s effort whistled just past of the post.
Just after the twenty minute mark, The Lionesses had the ball in the back of the net twice.
First, Ciara Watling’s thunderous free-kick found the top corner but the linesman adjudged an offside in the box before Lucy Jellett struck home with the linesman this time flagging for a goal kick.
Just before the interval, Millwall had another chance, Ciara Watling found Mia Lockett whose effort was well saved by the Newhaven stopper.
Five minutes after the restart, both Sophie Chapman and Jellett had headers cleared off the line.
With five minutes to go, Watling’s header was kept out and it looked as though there would be no way through for Millwall and they would have to settle for a point.
But as the clock ticked ninety, Ella Bailey’s cross caught the hosts keeper out and flew into the back of the net.
Millwall Lionesses saw the game out to make it two wins in two, unbeaten in four and ensure a first clean sheet of the season.
