Millwall Community Trust have partnered with Southwark Foodbank and Sport Local Action to tackle food poverty in the local area.

Southwark Foodbank provides emergency food to people in crisis. The vision is a Southwark without the need for foodbanks.

Southwark Foodbank supports about 100 households each week with emergency food parcels which feed a household for at least 3 days.

100 households equates to at least 300 people and around 60% of these households are single people.

Millwall and Southwark Foodbank, together with Sport Local Action (SLA) are rolling out the "in person" food collection model together with Tesco Old Kent Road.

Initially it will be three days per week, you will be able to donate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

To volunteer email, foodbank.support@pecan.org.uk with Local Action OKR in the subject header.

Joubin Sarrami, MCT’s Community Manager said: “This is an exciting project that has been facilitated by Sports Local Action bringing Millwall Community Trust and the power of football together with Southwark Food Bank to address food inequality in the local area.

“Thank you to all the partners for being involved in this and we are looking forward to it growing over the coming months.”
