Millwall Community Trust hosted “Have a Cup of Tea with Trevor Lee” yesterday evening prior to The Lions fixture against Plymouth Argyle.
As part of Millwall FC’s Black, Blue & White Day, Trevor Lee arrived at The Lions Centre from 5:30pm where he was greeted by fans who had the opportunity to pose for photographs and ask him questions.
As well as this, Show Racism The Red Card and Fans 4 Diversity were also in attendance as we continue to promote equality.
Millwall players warmed up in Fans 4 Diversity t-shirts whilst Plymouth Argyle wore Show Racism The Red Card tops.
Black, Blue & White Day was made possible thanks to funding from the Premier League Fans Fund.
Sean Daly, MCT CEO said: “It was a pleasure to host Black, Blue & White Day at The Den yesterday evening.
“Thank you to Trevor Lee for coming to The Lions Centre, it was fantastic to see so many people. We would also like to thank Show Racism The Red Card and Fans 4 Diversity for attending as we continue to promote equality.
“Finally, it would not have been possible to host this themed match without the support of the Premier League Fans Fund.”
Jason Vincent, Millwall FC’s EDI & Safeguarding Lead said: “It’s important to acknowledge and say thank you to so many people from the Millwall family be it present and across the years for their contribution and tireless work to stamp out discrimination and bring people together across all walks of life. So much good has been done and will be continued as we cannot be complacent.
“It was fitting that the launch of the club’s new anti-discrimination campaign ‘All Wall’ coincided with Black, Blue and White Day and Trevor Lee’s return to the Den.
“Trevor was wonderful and charming with our fans who came over to the Lions Centre to meet him and acknowledge the wonderful times he had at the club as a player as well as being a trailblazer alongside the late Phil Walker during the 70s.
“It was also amazing and appreciated to have Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) and Fans for Diversity to support us last night at the Lions Centre and the game.
“Thank you to them for engaging and having conversations with fans and staff at the Trust and Club. Also thank you for providing T-Shirts for our players and Plymouth’s to wear and create awareness before the kick-off during their warm ups on the pitch.
“We look forward to working with SRTRC and Fans for Diversity throughout the season and many more in our efforts to promote an inclusive and welcoming place for all.”
