Millwall Lionesses kicked off a month of home games with a resounding 10-1 victory against Herne Bay in The League Cup.

The victory means The Lionesses progress to the Quarter Finals of the competition.

Millie Connell made her first start since returning from injury in a game where Millwall dominated from start to finish.

Millwall started strong and had an efforts from Ciara Watling and Alice Wood saved early on.

But seven minutes later, The Lionesses took the lead. A great run and delivery from Mia Lockett was met by Elise Jennings who tapped home.

It was two four minutes later as Jennings turned provider - finding Lucy Jellett who steered the ball in.

Number three didn’t take long to find and Watling was the one to get it after another excellent pass from Jennings.

Jennings made it 4-0 on the 36th minute after turning home Lockett’s cross.

Goals number five and six came before the break as well, with Maisie Joyce scoring a spectacular goal before Watling converted a penalty to make it six at half-time.

Esme Johnson came on at half-time and made an immediate impact, with her effort going in at the near post.

Johnson made it eight fifteen minutes later, with an excellent effort from outside the area.

Jellett got her second in the 75th minute, rounding the keeper before cutting back and scoring from a tight angle.

The visitors did pull one back in the 85th minute, a set-piece wasn’t dealt with before finding a Herne Bay player who struck home.

But Millwall would get their tenth deep into stoppage time. A Watling corner was met by Billy Burgess whose bullet header found the back of the net.

Next up for Ted Jones’ side is another match against Dorking Wanderers next Sunday (1:30pm kick-off) at St Paul’s Sports Ground.
