Millwall Lionesses drew 2-2 against Newhaven on Sunday afternoon at St Paul’s Sports Ground.

Ted Jones’ rescued a late point through Olivia McGregor in the 88th minute.

The visitors started well and had a chance in the third minute but Sophie Chapman was there to expertly block the strike.

Ten minutes later, Millwall took the lead. Maisie Joyce grabbed her fourth goal in two games after a good delivery from Olivia Harris.

Newhaven went close moments later, an opportunity that went wide from close range.

Sophie Chapman made another superb interception just after the half hour mark, tracking her player all the way before making an incredible tackle.

The visitors levelled just before half-time however, an effort from close range found the back of the net.

Millwall dominated possession in the second half and went close through Ciara Watling and Olivia McGregor but both efforts were well saved by the visitors stopper.

Newhaven took the lead against the run of play with a smart finish from the left hand side.

But that wouldn’t dampen The Lionesses spirit who continued to press and they were rewarded for their efforts two minutes from ninety. Ciara Watling found Elise Jennings who delivered for Olivia McGregor to smash home six yards out.

Millwall pushed for a winner in the closing stages but it didn’t quite come and they were forced to settle for a point.
