Millwall Community Trust’s (MCT) Employability Hub Mentees played a match at The Den last Friday.
As part of MCT’s annual Play on the Pitch Day where participants from the trust’s programmes get an opportunity to play at the stadium, our mentees played a five-a-side match.
The trust offers Employability and IAG support programmes for unemployed people of all ages and backgrounds free of charge.
This support includes delivery of targeted pre-employability programmes, as well as hosting and delivery of targeted employability events including most recently twice hosting one of Lewisham and Southwark's largest ever Employment Job Fair events at the Lions centre in partnership with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) local JCPs, and other local organisations.
The mentees’ match was played in excellent spirit whilst also having some great skill on show.
Duane Ramsay, MCT’s Employability & Mentoring Officer said: “The day was a highly rewarding experience, filled with positive and memorable moments.
“It was particularly impactful to see a diverse range of groups involved, including local schools, grassroots teams, walking football participants, SEND groups, local young people and our Training Ground mentees.
“The environment was fully inclusive and community-focused, and I was proud to be in attendance and contribute to a session that brought so many different people together through football. I can’t wait until next year.”
