The newly formed Millwall PAN disability youth football team took part in their first ever football tournament last weekend, organised by Norwich City Community Sports Foundation. Teams from 12 different clubs took part in the fourth CSF Disability Summer Cup which had participants with a range of disabilities such as cerebral palsy, hearing impairments, dwarfism, and learning disabilities. The teams that featured were Manchester City (CITC), Millwall Community Trust, Watford FC Trust, The Albion Foundation (West Bromwich Albion), Aston Villa Foundation, Arsenal Community, MK Dons Sport and Education Trust, Stoke City, Chelsea Foundation, and Swansea City Community Trust. The Millwall PAN disability youth team enjoyed an entertaining day which started off with a tough test against competition winners Middlesbrough who recorded a 3-0 victory against the young Lions. The Millwall team then settled into their surroundings and see victory against a Watford side, where the Lions won 2-1. The Lions unfortunately did not record any further victories in their remaining six matches, but this did not stop them from enjoying an entertaining day. Millwall PAN disability youth player Alfie said: "It was great making new friends and doing something new". Alfie’s dad went on to say: "I really enjoyed the whole day seeing the kids enjoying themselves and showing great sportsmanship which made the long journey worthwhile" Another player who has become quite well known at Millwall since appearing in the Millwall 2019/20 season ticket video is Bolero and his mum commented: "I was more nervous than him, everyone was so talented. He was nervous in the first game; he has had not played with the team before and everyone else was bigger than him. By the second game his confidence grew, and I saw big smiles" Ben Perryman from Millwall Community Trust commented "Millwall’s participation in this tournament would not have happened if it wasn't for the money raised at the recent Disability Gala evening at Millwall FC.
