Last week students from our Post-16 Academy, took part in a range of workshops with the Jimmy Mizen foundation, one of Millwall Community Trusts' key partners. MCT's Lions Centre is part of the Jimmy Mizen Foundations' Safe Haven programme, whereby the centre is open to young people who feel vulnerable or at risk to receive help and support. Millwall FC also dedicate a home game each season to the foundation, with money raised going towards their work. The workshops formed part of the social action section of the NCS programme which the students are completing as part of the programme at Millwall Community Trust. During the workshops, students learned about the work the Jimmy Mizen foundation does around building safer communities and educating young people about the dangers of gang culture and violence. Following on from these workshops, MCT students will continue to work with the Jimmy Mizen Foundation to help spread the message of the foundation and educate other young people in their communities. Sean Daly, Football Development Manager, said: "It's fantastic to be able to build on our relationship with the Jimmy Mizen Foundation, by working with them to help support and develop students on our Post-16 Academy programme. "The NCS programme is a key part of the work our Post-16 Academy students, and the social action section enables them to learn how to build safe and strong communities, and we're looking forward to continuing to work with the Jimmy Mizen foundation to help support our students."
