Millwall Community Trust held its third annual Santa Dash event on Saturday morning which saw around fifty people complete the run.
The occasion that takes place yearly saw Lions fans and local residents enjoying the festive jog once again on the weekend before Millwall’s Championship fixture against Wigan Athletic.
The Millwall Santa Dash took place for the very first time in 2019 and is an event where adults and children dress up in Father Christmas outfits and Elf costumes to complete the short circuit.
Participants ran from The Den to St. Paul’s stadium in Rotherhithe and back before finally doing a lap of the famous Millwall stadium to complete the four kilometres and earn themselves a gold medal.
The awards were presented by Millwall manager Gary Rowett and CEO Steve Kavanagh as the partakers crossed the finish line just in front of the first-team dugout.
Sean Daly, MCT’s CEO appeared on BBC Radio London where he spoke about what the Community Trust is doing this Christmas and commented on the Santa Dash that took place on Saturday: “Every year we have our annual Santa Dash so we ran that on Saturday and it’s really just for fans to dress up as Father Christmas, blue outfits, children to be elves.
“They do a two-mile jog and then come back to the stadium and we raise money for a local charity, so that was held on Saturday and we had about fifty runners, which was excellent.”
He later added: “Overall, the event was a big success where lots of people enjoyed the festive fun and we have already started planning for next year’s Dash.”
