Millwall Romans lost 3-2 against Yorkshire Terriers in the GFSN Cup semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.
The Romans had the chance to go through to the final of the competition but were narrowly beaten in what was a great display.
Millwall went behind in the first half before James Barker equalised to level the scores.
However, Yorkshire Terriers would re-establish their lead just before the break to send them in 2-1 up at half-time.
The Terriers scored a third midway through the second half to give themselves a two-goal cushion going into the last quarter of the tie.
But Millwall Romans hit back with ten minutes remaining as Jay Lemonius to give them a fighting chance in the latter stages.
Millwall kept going but that it is how it stayed, and The Romans attentions turn back to the League as they look to extend the gap at the top of the table.
Millwall Romans Captain Paul Loding said: “Really disappointing to go out of the GFSN cup in the semi-final after beating a strong village Manchester team in the quarter final, who had beaten us in the last two years.
“It just wasn’t our day on Sunday. All credit to Yorkshire Terriers who played well and were tactically better than us on the day.”
Millwall Community Trust CEO Sean Daly added: “Well done to the Millwall Romans for reaching this stage in the competition for the second year in a row and picking up some excellent results along the way, focus will now be on the remaining fixtures of this season Unity League campaign.”
