What a fantastic day for our Pan disability Team that took part at the North League travelling to Caledonian Road.
Millwall, Southwark Starts and local teams had a great afternoon of football.
The tournament had such a great vibe and all players from all teams were so polite, welcoming, showing great support and sportsmanship to each other.
All teams played very well and all matches were really close. Our Lions, that took part at this tournament for the first time won a game 2-1 and lost two which ended in 1-0 and 2-1 defeats.
We are really proud of their attitude travelling there and at the tournament. A special mention to George, Ryaeh and James for a fantastic first match for Millwall.
Going back at the matches, our team displayed moments of very good football and as usual a unique commitment, passion and team spirit through all matches.
Following the tournament, a parent said: “I wanted to let you know how amazing Sunday was for Russell and I and to say thank you to you and your fellow coaches who make a difference to our children’s lives.”
Another one added: “Never did I expect the words ‘come on Millwall’ to come out of my mouth but that’s what happened today for an amazing reason. James has recently joined a football team for young adults with learning difficulties/autism that’s sponsored by Millwall (they train in the community centre under the Den).
“Today we went to a tournament in north London to play against other similar teams. It is an afternoon that will stay with me for a long time, my son being part of a team who are such lovely young people and who support each other and had the best time, the smiles were amazing. The teams they played against were polite and supportive too, though all were competitive and it was great to watch the games.
“The coaches from all sides were so caring and encouraging. I absolutely loved it all and am still smiling and will do every time I remember this fantastic afternoon.”
