Millwall Lionesses Football Club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Keith Boanas as it’s new manager.

Boanas joins The Lionesses with a wealth of management experience across the women’s pyramid and significant coaching history that sees him currently hold a UEFA Pro Licence.

Beginning his women’s managerial career in November 2000, Boanas took over as manager of Charlton Athletic Women. With Charlton Women, Boanas alongside his assistant Matt Beard (current Liverpool Women’s manager) reached three successive FA Women's Cup Finals, winning the 2005 trophy after defeats to Fulham in 2003 and Arsenal in 2004.

He reached the Final once again in 2007. He also guided Charlton Women to further Cup success in the FA Women's Premier League Cup in 2004 and 2006.

Boanas has a history with The Lionesses, having been previously appointed manager for the 2008/09 season. In January 2009, he was appointed as manager of the Estonia Women's national football team and further tasked with re-structuring youth development and coach education in a developing football nation.

Other spells in management have seen him in charge of Watford Ladies in 2017 and most recently in charge of Welling United Women. He also currently holds an honorary position as the English National College's Head Coach.

Keith’s arrival also means the confirmed departure of Jack Wheeler as manager of The Lionesses after his contract expired at the end of May.

Jack has a proven record in the women’s game and he has shown under his tenure at Millwall that he is capable of building winning teams and developing players to achieve their potential. Now having achieved his UEFA A Licence, we wish Jack all the best in his future in management and thank him for all his hard work while at Millwall.
