As part of our Free Summer Holiday, Activity and Food Programmes (HAF) Millwall Community (MCT) is delivering Kick and Cook Sessions.
Throughout our HAF Camps, Millwall Community Trust, alongside The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, have been hosting ‘Kick and Cook’ sessions at our Kent HAF Camps.
The programme is being delivered to children aged between five and fifteen years-old and gives them essential life skills.
The children learn how to safely use equipment whilst trying healthy meals.
The aim is to help children develop a healthy relationship between diet and exercise by engaging them in physical activity and helping them develop lifelong cooking skills with top-class chef, Alice MacKinnon.
Peter Sweeney, Millwall Community Trust Coach said: “Alice’s food class was brilliant, showing the children different types of healthy foods, it was great seeing the children trying things they hadn’t tried before.
“Also learning preparation skills. It was a fantastic class and the children loved it.”
Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Chef , Alice MacKinnon, said: “The session was really well received, we did a taste and sensory class, working with different flavours and varied fruits and vegetables.
“We also did preparation skills where the children made a healthy salad to take home. Lots of them tasted new things for the first time and enjoyed talking about their favourite foods.”
