Local Community club makes it two wins from two to start the season

Fisher kept up their hundred percent winning start too their league campaign, with a dominant 3-1 win over local rivals Stansfeld in Chislehurst.

Saturday’s hat trick hero Julian Kuhr was an absentee, away on trial at Blackburn Rovers, and so Lewis Duberry came into the front line, and Tyron Mbuenimo replaced the injured Jojo Kinzonzi. Returnee Flavio Jumo, signed on Monday, was added to the bench along with Joseph Koroma.

Fisher started well, with Charles Yiadom-Konadu quickly settling on the ball and impressing the numerous ex Fisher Athletic players amongst the crowd with his immaculate close control and range of passing.  An early chance saw Tyron Mbuenimo head wide at the back post after a good cross from Manny Shoderu and a surging Luke Thomas run ended with his low shot not gathering enough pace to trouble the keeper.

Stansfeld then had their best spell of the game having forced a corner and the Fisher back line had to be on their guard to repel a subsequent series of corners and long throws into the area. However, the composure of Mark Chidi, along with the power of Jospeh Adewunmi and some good claims by Justice Owusu finally cleared the danger.

The opening goal arrived after half an hour. A lovely spell of possession down the right saw the ball quickly passed through five players with Mbuenimo laying the ball back to Yiadom-Konadu. Some fancy footwork from the former Macclesfield midfielder saw him create space and clip in a dream of a cross which found Manny Shoderu ghosting into the area to nod the ball over the stranded keeper and give Fisher a deserved lead.

A second goal followed seven minutes later and will be a tough one to beat in both the monthly and seasonal goal awards. Yiadom-Konadu was again the architect, spraying a cross field pinpoint ball into the path of marauding left back Conor Darwish who tucked the ball back to Lewis Duberry, with the Montserrat international, clipping the ball with the outside of his boot, to chip the keeper from outside the box with a sublime finish, which drew gasps as much as cheers from the Fisher faithful massed behind the goal.

Fisher were rampant at this point and some of the football a pure delight to watch, with Yiadom-Konadu at the heart of everything, supported by a powerhouse performance from Ezekiel Miller, getting better with every game in a holding midfield role.

Two up at the break, Fisher came out for the second half still on the front foot, albeit defending the slope. A third was quickly added after Eniye Amgbaduba was pulled back as he spun his marker and the big striker got up to be on hand to nod Yiadom-Kondau’s pinpoint free kick into the path of Manny Shoderu who hooked the bouncing ball home for his second and Fisher’s third.

Stansfeld sought to get back into the game and some hefty challenges came in to try and counter Fisher’s passing game, earning the hosts several yellow cards. However it was Fisher who were to go down to ten men, when substitute Kyron Cooper spun his marker and reacted badly to having the shirt and half his skin pulled from his back, as he looked to race clear, giving the referee little choice but to send him off with the Stanfield culprit escaping with just a yellow card.

Again, Fisher faced a tougher ending to the game than they needed, after Stansfeld’s constant pumping of the ball forward finally earned a reward, with some pinball seeing a through ball break kindly for their forward to convert.

Fisher had several good chances to wrap the game up despite playing a man short as Ezekiel Miller powered forward to set up several a goal attempts. Substitute Joseph Koroma, shot wide, Amgbaduba saw a shot blocked and a mazy run from fellow substitute Billy Brown saw his low shot well saved.

When another very late challenge on Conor Darwish saw a second yellow awarded to a Stansfeld player and even out the numbers, the game was done ad dusted and Fisher saw out the eight minutes of injury time with relatively few worries to make it three wins from three in the league from the exciting looking squad.
