Millwall Lionesses lost 2-1 against Dartford at St Paul’s Sports Ground on Sunday.

The Lionesses currently sit seventh in the London & South East Regional Women’s League after the defeat.

Millwall started well and Shannan Drewe did well to get a strike off in the fifth minute, but it was well saved by the visitor's stopper.

Following that, both sides cancelled each other out in hot conditions in South London, with neither team able to create a clear-cut chance.

It took until 48th minute for the next chance to come, and it was the visitors who should’ve taken the lead, only for the strike to be hit wide from close-range. But, six minutes later, Dartford did take the lead with a good finish from inside the box.

Millwall Lionesses boss Keith Boanas made changes in hope of finding that leveller, but the ball wouldn’t quite drop the way of incoming Millwall players.

With seven minutes remaining The Darts doubled their lead, as a powerful strike from outside the area flew past Darcy Guy and into the back of the net.

Millwall did pull one back as the clock hit 90 minutes, Millie Connell rising highest to head past the 'keeper.

The Lionesses pushed for the equaliser but couldn’t find a way through and now turn their attention to next Sunday’s trip to Dulwich Hamlet.
