Fisher Youth FC’s first-ever girls' team were mascots for Millwall Lionesses clash against Dartford on Sunday at St Paul’s Sports Ground, Rotherhithe.

The new Fisher Youth FC U12 Girls team started playing fixtures this season (23/24) in the all-female Tandridge League U12 premier division.

The players were all recruited from Millwall Community Trust’s weekly Premier League Kick’s sessions held at St Paul’s Sports Ground on Wednesdays and the Docklands Settlement on Thursdays throughout the year.

Last Sunday they were able to walk with Millwall Lionesses first-team players onto the pitch for their match against The Darts before watching the game.

Millwall Community Trust’s Sports and Development Manager, Tim Sells said: “It was an absolute pleasure to help form this team and I’m delighted they had a good time last Sunday and enjoyed their afternoon.

“The work of Fisher FC’s Paul Harbert and our own Community Manager (Joubin Sarrami) to put this all together has been phenomenal. It’s fantastic to see the growth of Women’s football and hopefully those sorts of opportunities will continue to inspire young girls throughout our local community."

MCT's Community Manager, Joubin Sarrami added: "It was great to have created a pathway for the girls who attended our weekly Premier League Kicks session to get regular game time by creating a structured under-12 girls team in a competitive league. I want to say a big thank you to Decathlon's Health and Wellbeing fund which has allowed us to increase participation on our weekly session."
