Two Millwall Community Trust Ambassadors were on the scoresheet as Millwall defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday night.
Millwall Community Trust Education and Employment Ambassador Zian Flemming and Millwall Community Trust Disability Ambassador George Saville found the back of the net as The Lions secured three points on the road.
Gary Rowett made three changes to his starting line-up at Home Park, as Danny McNamara, Joe Bryan and Wes Harding replaced Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Ryan Longman and Murray Wallace, who all dropped to the bench.
Both sides traded shots on goal in the opening moments as Bartosz Bialkowski and Conor Hazard had to make saves from attempts on the edge of the penalty area.
The Lions and Plymouth then moved to find openings as the first-half wore on, but defences were on top as the midway point of the half approached. A spell of Millwall pressure was then followed by one from Argyle, as a burst down the right from Ryan Hardie saw him cut the ball back to Finn Azazz on 23 minutes, but his strike whistled wide of the near post.
Kaine Kesler-Hayden's trickery then allowed him a shot at goal - one that was beaten away by Bialkowski - with Bali Mumba the next to have a go for the home side, only to see his effort go wide.
A set-piece offered an opportunity for Millwall to take the lead with 10 minutes to play in the opening 45, but as a loose ball dropped for Flemming, his goal-bound strike was blocked well by the Plymouth defence.
Flemming's volley from the edge of the box went awry as the whistle was on the horizon, with Morgan Whittaker's free-kick saved by Bialkowski in the final action of the half.
Duncan Watmore's run took him past two and carved an opening for a shot as the second-half got underway, but a Plymouth leg directed the ball behind, with Ryan Leonard heading the resulting corner-kick wide.
Bialkowski got his fingertips to an attempt from Whittaker as the home side looked to up the ante ahead of the hour-mark, but it was to be The Lions who would open the scoring on 59 minutes as good hold-up play from Watmore saw him thread the ball through to Flemming - the Dutchman showing a calm nature to lift the ball over the onrushing Hazard and into the back of the net.
The goal naturally lifted Millwall - and the 606 situated in the corner of the stand behind the goal - and some determination from the goalscorer and Watmore almost set up Kevin Nisbet for a run on goal five minutes later, but his touch was heavy and rolled into the arms of Hazard.
The Pilgrims almost found a way through to goal on 82 minutes through Mumba's deflected effort, but Bialkowski remained strong to palm away, whilst Harding executed an outstanding challenge to keep Plymouth at bay at the beginning of seven additional minutes.
Nervy moments followed, but The Lions registered a second of the evening deep into the added period as Flemming won the ball back and fed substitute Saville, who had the task of slotting home and sealing the game.
