Millwall were defeated 3-2 by Leicester City in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday night.

Millwall Community Trust Crime Reduction Ambassador Tom Bradshaw gave The Lions an early lead at King Power Stadium, but second-half strikes from Jannik Vestergaard, Patson Daka and Ricardo Pereira secured the win for the hosts. Kevin Nisbet's stoppage-time goal was mere consolation.

Joe Edwards made five changes to his starting XI for the trip, with Jake Cooper and George Saville returning to action, whilst Tom Bradshaw, Duncan Watmore and George Honeyman also came into the team at the expense of the quintet of Shaun Hutchinson, Nisbet, Billy Mitchell, Zian Flemming and Ryan Longman, who all dropped to the bench.

After the game started as a midfield battle, The Lions were to take the lead with 10 minutes on the clock - Watmore keeping the ball alive on the far side and feeding Murray Wallace, whose right-footed cross was headed expertly home by Bradshaw.

A couple of minutes later, Millwall could have been two to the good, but with roles switching between provider and finisher from the first goal, Wallace's header from Bradshaw's cross was stopped in its tracks. The Lions were playing through the lines well and fashioned another chance with 20 minutes on the clock as the Georges - Saville and Honeyman - combined to slide through Bradshaw; his effort hit the side-netting, however. The hosts' first effort of the night then came, but Matija Sarkic was equal to Wout Faes' header from a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall free-kick.

Watmore had an effort deflected wide as the half-hour mark came into view, before Abdul Fatawu's strike was knocked wide for The Foxes as they looked for the equaliser. Wilfred Ndidi was the next to fire over, whilst Vestergaard's free-kick was comfortable for Sarkic six minutes before the half-time break.

With three of the back five on a yellow card at half-time, Wallace was sacrificed at the beginning of the second-half for Danny McNamnara, who slotted into the left-back slot. It didn't take long for Leicester to muster up the first opportunity of the second period as Ndidi looked to beat Sarkic at the back post, but the stopper was equal to his strike before it was cleared away to safety.

However, there were 48 minutes played when The Foxes were level, as Dewsbury-Hall's cross was nodded home by Vestergaard.

Four minutes later, the turnaround was complete and Leicester were in front as Ndidi's cross was poked home on the goal-line by Daka.

Stephy Mavididi nodded into the side-netting as the home side now had control of the game, but Millwall had a chance of their own on 61 minutes as the ball broke to Ryan Leonard following a momentary scramble in the box - his shot being deflected wide, though.

Flemming and Nisbet replaced Watmore and Bradshaw as the final 15 minutes got underway, but with 12 minutes remaining, the game was put to bed as captain Pereira's shot deflected off Ndidi to wrong-foot Sarkic and make it 3-1.

Honeyman's attempt was cleared off the line by Faes as The Lions looked for a late way back into the game, and with Nisbet's finish three minutes into stoppage-time Millwall set up a grandstand finish, but they could not find a further chance and were defeated.
